At age thirty-six Jeffrey Blake is a self-made multi-millionaire whose obsession for more wealth has severely alienated his fifteen-year-old son Luke, a sensitive promising writer.
Persuaded by his mother to go with the father he despises on a man to man trip in an RV, a bitter quarrel at the Grand Canyon results in a fragile truce.
Picking up a stray mongrel Luke calls Beric, they meet grizzled campsite owner Clem Hudson who mentions a secluded lake at the peak of a nearby mountain range but warns the entire area can instantly become shrouded in mist. Camping at the lake for two idyllic weeks, when Jeffrey shoots a distant rattlesnake Beric warns them about, father and son hurriedly pack up and leave but are forced to halt for the night when the mist rapidly descends.
The next morning, in the time it takes to blink, there begins a nightmarish ordeal where terrifying developments make survival increasingly remote, more so when they drive Jeffrey to traumatic meltdown.
When everything appears hopeless, young Luke, the budding writer, conceives a daring but ingeniously simple means of surviving…
